– I was shocked when I was diagnosed, I’ve always been a healthy guy. (tea kettle whistling) I wasn’t ready to give up, and neither were my family and friends. My chances of getting a
match were less than 7% but I remained hopeful. I realized I needed to
help build awareness. I always tell people there’s
more than one way to get back. Not everyone can donate
blood or stem cells but we can all be heroes in our own way. For me, it was about raising awareness in stem cell registration
within ethnic communities. There are lots of reasons
to join Canada’s Lifeline. My name if Tom, I’m a stem cell recipient, advocate, and financial supporter for
Canadian Blood Services.
